Greetings from ToonTown! It’s been a minute since my last update. That’s my fault. I hope everyone had a nice holiday season and a happy new year. I cannot believe it’s 2025. So much has happened since my last newsletter. Heck, so MUCH has happened in the last 48 hours. TikTok was taken away. We all said goodbye. We cried. I realized I am an iPad kid when my thumb reflexively kept trying to open TikTok each time I closed out another app. Then TikTok came back in 14 hours. It’s all a fucking joke blah blah blah. The weekend gave me some emotional whiplash to say the least. Let’s get on to the good stuff, shall we?

📚 Currently Reading 📚

I finished our Fantasy & Frens book of the month the other night. The Fellowship of the Ring was even better than I could have imagined! The LOTR movies are some of my favorite films of all time, so I knew I was going to love Fellowship. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Andy Serkis. Hands down, one of the best audiobooks I have ever listened to! Serkis embodied the spirits of all of the characters perfectly. Since I’ve now read the book, I feel like I appreciate the story so much more! But I appreciate the movie cutting out all of the walking and travelling, otherwise we would have had an 8 hour film on our hands. 🤣 I’m going to rewatch the movies soon (extended editions, obviously) as I complete the next two books in the trilogy! I’m so glad we read this as a book club!

Next up on my TBR: The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon!

📺 Currently Watching 📺

I’ve been bouncing between a few TV shows in the new year!

• The Sex Lives of College Girls (Max), Season 3 — absolutely hilarious, here for a good time, not a long time ya feel me

• Silo, Season 2 (Apple TV+) — watching this with Jarrett, we loved season 1 and have really been enjoying season 2! The mystery of the show unfolds a little more with each episode we watch and has us on the edge of our seats!

• The Pitt (Max), Season 1 — this new medical drama caught my eye and I am so glad it did! Each episode is 1 hour of a shift working in the Emergency Department. It’s from the writers of ER and it is so intense!! If you like medical dramas, I HIGHLY recommend!!!

• The Rookie (ABC/Hulu), Season 7 — my favorite procedual is BACK!!! I love this show so much and always recommend it if you’re looking for a new show to binge watch!

📝 Publishing Updates 📝

Still working on finding a third manuscript to publish. Pitchfest turned out to not be fruitful for me and that’s okay! I recently received new manuscripts from literary agents and I am hoping there is something in my pile for us to publish!

Other news!

I’m putting my new video camera to use and posting long-form content on YouTube! I’ve posted two videos so far this month and I’m super proud of them! Filming YouTube exercises different “muscles” than I’m used to using compared to my shortform content on TikTok and Instagram. I’m looking forward to creating at least two videos per month for YouTube! I’ve linked my new videos below if you want to hear about my 2025 Reading Goals and my first book unhaul of 2025. ◡̈
